School Education Department to hold meeting with headmasters today
MADURAI: The Directorate of School Education has sought details of teacher post vacancies in Government schools in the district in order to take steps for appointment at the earliest.
To know the final vacancy position, officials in School Education Department here have called for a verification meeting with headmasters of Government high/higher secondary schools on May 22.
“We are taking steps to fill up vacancies in each school. Details of teachers who are on long leave are also called for,” P. Shantha, District Educational Officer (Madurai), told ‘The Hindu’ on Wednesday.
The meeting, to be held at O. C. P. M. Girls Higher Secondary School, will compile particulars of number of vacancies in Madurai, Melur and Usilampatti educational districts.
The data will be forwarded to the Directorate.
From the Plus Two examination results announced on May 10, authorities have analysed that mathematics is the subject in which the maximum number of students have failed.
While 593 candidates failed in maths, it was followed by chemistry (455), English (418), physics (378), commerce (316), history (204) and accountancy (130).
The DEO said that every school would be asked to focus on ‘Nootrukku Nooru’ scheme right from the beginning of the academic year to achieve centum pass.
“Last year, this programme of the District Collector was taken up late in schools. But, this year the effort will be to avoid failures and see that every candidate passes in Plus Two examinations,” Ms. Shantha said.
Plus Two marksheets
The Plus Two mark statements were distributed to students in their respective schools on Wednesday. For Madurai educational district, the headmasters collected the mark sheets from department authorities at Madura College Higher Secondary School; for Melur educational district at American College Higher Secondary School and for Usilampatti educational district at Government Kallar Higher Secondary School, Chekkanoorani.
