Tuticorin: Five child labourers were rescued from various parts of the district during raids conducted by National Child Labour Project and Labour Department officials on Tuesday.

R. Natarajan, project director, NCLP, said that S. Gopi Anand, R. Satish Kumar and M. Satish Kumar, all aged 13 years, were rescued from shops and establishments situated in different parts of the town, while S. Thangamariappan (13) and A. Murugaraj (13), were rescued from shops at Kovilpatti.

He said that all the children rescued were school dropouts.
