TAMBARAM: The education system and teaching needs should be changed keeping in mind requirements of school students, Thangam Thennarasu, School Education Minister, said here recently.

Speaking at the 52nd annual day of Avvai Middle School, a government-aided institution run by Amarar C.P. Jeevanandam Memorial Trust in West Tambaram, the Minister said there were fears, suspicion and criticism that the proposed “Uniform Syllabus” would bring down quality in school education, but they were all untrue.

Stating that he did not want to make any announcements as the Assembly was in session, he said the government’s important objective was to eliminate differences among students based on their economic backgrounds.

“Quality will never be diluted or compromised,” he said. “The government believes that education should make learning joyful for all students.”
