M. S Sundara Rajan, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank:
Only one-third of the population has access to banking services. The challenge is in bringing those who do not have a bank account into the fold. Competition is the order of the day and it brings out the best in us.
Technology-wise, nationalised banks are second to none. Earlier, public sector undertakings were not known for use of technology.
We offer core banking solutions, Internet and mobile banking and ATMs to attract young customers into the bank’s fold. Nationalised banks need to improve their marketing strategies to make their products known to the public.
