The PRD is shooting documentaries on
eminent Keralites who have contributed to the State
KOZHIKODE: The Public Relations Department (PRD) is in the process of completing 10 documentaries on eminent personalities in the State. The documentaries are part of an initiative to highlight the rich contribution made to the State by these people from different walks of life. Political leaders, social reformers, writers, musicians, artists and others find place in the docu-fiction list selected by the PRD, for public viewing.
E.K. Nayanar, P. Krishna Pillai, Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, O.V. Vijayan, Ananda Thirtha, Chattambi Swamigal, Mani Madhava Chakyar, M.P. Ramanathan, A.V. Kuttimalu Amma, and K. Ayyappa Panicker are the 10 personalities on whom docu-fictions are being made.
The one on Ayyappa Panicker is the last in the series, says Manoj Kumar, Information Officer, State Public Relations Department.
In the last four years 40 films have been completed by the department including one on M.T. Vasudevan Nair. The PRD has completed a full-fledged documentary on Kerala that portrays the State’s multifaceted aspects. Documentaries that focus on each of the 14 districts, highlighting the peculiar cultural traditions of these regions, too have been made.
These films are shown by Doordarshan regularly. Screenings are also organised at the district-level including in rural centres on special occasions.
