PERAMBALUR: About 75,000 families in 125 panchayats have been provided free colour television sets in the composite Perambalur district so far, Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A. Raja has said

At a function to distribute free colour television sets to 960 families at Kunnam on Saturday, Mr. Raja said 30,000 TV sets had been distributed in Perambalur district and 45,000 in the newly formed Ariyalur district.

The State government, in its budget 2008-09, had announced that a medical college would be started in Perambalur. A multi-product special economic zone would also come up soon. Adequate funds would be allotted for improving amenities at Kunnam taluk, he said.

Collector Anil Meshram and others participated.
