COIMBATORE: The Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Akash Ganga sky diving team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will put up an air show at the Air Force Station, Sulur, on March 2.
According to an official release, it will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The display that is being organised under the aegis of Southern Air Command, IAF, aims to showcase the IAF’s capabilities.The Surya Kirans, which is nicknamed as the aerial ballet team for its precise and graceful manoeuvres, has been performing since 1996. The nine-aircraft team flies the indigenously manufactured Kiran Mk II jet aircraft.
The Akash Ganga sky diving team, the IAF’s first skydiving team, has been performing since 1987. The team has been performing for opening and closing ceremonies of the National Games held in India.
Entry to the programme shall be by invitation only. The event is co-ordinated by personnel of Air Force Station, Sulur, besides Air Commodore P.K. Srivastava, Air Officer Commanding, 5 BRD, and Group Captain B.K. Dash, Station Commander, 43 Wing AF.
