More than 2,000 exhibits from 1,500 students reminded visitors of Ravi Varma’s paintings
CHENNAI: A two-day art and craft exhibition, ‘Young Ravi Varma’, organised by Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Surapet, near Ambattur, came to a close on Tuesday.
More than 2,000 exhibits from 1,500 students reminded visitors of Ravi Varma’s paintings, which captured the subtle emotions of the people and nature in a realistic manner.
The display included oil paintings, Tanjore paintings, glass paintings, water colour paintings and craft works.
School art teacher P. Jayarathinam said the students had put in their heart and soul into the event. “Their creativity and motivation from the school management helped them achieve this,” he added.
Inaugurating the exhibition, art director GK appreciated the efforts and offered tips to the students to improve their works.
Velammal Educational Trust Trustee Kunjaravalli Muthuramalingam and chief executive officer of the school M.V.M. Velmurugan participated.
