H. Lalmingmawii , research scholar from Mizoram:
There is a sizable community of students and youngsters from the North-Eastern States living in Choolaimedu and nearby areas. I have been here for eight years and don’t have a problem with the language as most of them can understand simple English. Most of my siblings have graduated from Chennai. Bargaining with autorickshaw drivers is a problem. They demand higher rates because they think I am a foreigner.
When I am out in the middle of the night policemen ask me for my passport. I am an Indian, why do I need a passport?
