HARUR: Revenue Minister I. Periyasamy inaugurated the Harur revenue division in Dharmapuri district on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that formation of a division with Harur as headquarters was a long pending demand of people in the district. The new division was formed including Harur and Pappireddypatti taluks.
Mr. Periyasamy said that the foundation stone laying function for the Hogenakkal water supply scheme would be held shortly.
Free house site pattas
The State Government would initiate steps to provide free house sites to tribal people living in the district.
The Government had already completed the distribution of about 3 lakh free house site pattas last year.
Listing out the welfare schemes implemented by the Government, the Minister said that 14,422 people were given 16,548 acres under the two-acre free land scheme in the district. Later, the Minister distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 89.97 lakh to 1,249 beneficiaries selected under various schemes.
Collector P. Amutha presided. Senthil, MP, District Revenue Officer R. Nagarajan, MLAs and senior officials were present during the function.
