Pursue career in agro-based industries, say speakers at awareness programme
PUDUKOTTAI: Speakers at a day-long ‘entrepreneurship awareness programme’ held here recently appealed to women entrepreneurs to pursue a career in agro-based industries.
They also explained the various subsidy-oriented schemes being implemented by the Central and State Governments to promote agro industries.
The programme, jointly organised by the Government Arts College for Women and the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship skills among the final year students of the college.
General Manager of District Industries Centre S. Thiruipurasundari, who spoke on ‘government schemes and viable projects,’ said that projects such as manufacture of vermi-compost and bio-manure would bring about profitability to them.
There was a growing demand for bio-manures and the women entrepreneurs could also start self-employment units such as bakery.
She also explained the procedures for preparing the project programme with accurate details for availing themselves of credit facility from banks.
Efficient management of finance, production and materials would step up the profitability.
College Principal D. Bhooma said that the programme was organised to expose the students to different entrepreneurial skills.
The chief advisor of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development S. Prithiviraj advised the entrepreneurs to select their activity after conducting a survey on the demand for their end-product.
Pudukottai Small Scale Industries Association president S. Rajakumar was among those who spoke.
Ms. Bhoomadevi released a guide on ‘entrepreneurship skills’ on the occasion.
