Thirty six eunuchs attended the classes regularly

ERODE: "Service is the expression of joy and love. Ask ourselves, how can i be useful to those around me and to the whole world. Then your heart starts to blossom and a completely new level begins," says Sri Sri Ravishankar, founder of Art of Living. The Erode centre of the organisation recently offered free yoga and meditation courses to transsexuals.

The centre, started a few months ago, selected a few eunuchs and gave them yoga lessons. Thirty six eunuchs attended the classes regularly. One who attended the class said: "Usually people look at us derisively. They call us Ali which wounds our mind. But after attending the course, we feel we can face anything."

Art of Living in-charge in Erode Raja D. Palanikumar said more such persons would be given training in yoga and other courses. In Erode at Perundurai Road many courses like Advanced Meditation Course, Sri Sri Yoga, Sahaj Samaj Meditation and Divya Samaj Ka Nirman were imparted to many people. More than 7,000 persons attended the courses in six months.

Course in-charge S. Padmanabhan said: "For the first time in India, a course for the transgender people has been conducted and the participants proclaimed in unison that it had been an out-of-the-world experience for them and affirmed that life would never be the same for them again."

He also said the members of Art of Living regularly conducted classes for children in juvenile schools. Manystudents attended yoga and other courses

whichhelped them ease their mental tension, course organisers said.
