Chidambaram Assistant Sessions Court Judge Thirunavukkarasu on Monday issued an arrest warrant against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan for not appearing before the court in connection with a case which was filed in 1997.

Mr. Thirumavalavan is facing the charges of delivering an objectionable speech on the birth anniversary of Ambedkar at Kumarakudi near Sethiathope in 1997.

He was issued summons to appear in the court on April 13, which he skipped.

Again, the summons was issued, asking him to make himself present in court on Monday, which was not honoured. Hence, the Judge directed the Cholatharam police to arrest him and produce him before the court.
