Guru peyarchi celebration at Sri Vasishteswaraswamy temple on May 28

All arrangements would be in place for the benefit of devotees expected to throng Sri Vasishteswaraswamy temple at Thittai near Thanjavur for guru peyarchi festival on May 28, said K.Baskaran, Collector, here on Wednesday. He held discussions with officials on the preparations to be made for the festival.

He asked HR and CE department officials to put up a pandal around the temple. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation should ensure continuous power supply. Asking the temple authorities to put up barricades, he asked police officials to provide proper bandobust. Local panchayat should ensure supply of drinking water. He directed the health department to set up first aid and medical units. The State Transport Corporation should operate buses from the old bus stand and the new bus stand in Thanjavur to Thittai and from Kumbakonam to Thittai. S.Suresh Kumar, District Revenue Officer, HR and CE department officials, and Mangayarkarasi, president, Thittai panchayat, took part.
