Held with illicit arrackTIRUCHI: The City Prohibition and Enforcement Wing of the police arrested a 51-year-old man on the charge of possession of illicit arrack on Wednesday.

The PEW sleuths seized two litres of illicit arrack from Jayabal who was later sent for remand. The City PEW has registered a case, the police here said.

History-sheeter nabbedThe police on Thursday arrested a history-sheeter on the charge of threatening one Prabhakaran with knife and allegedly demanding money from the latter at Chinthamani here.

Following a complaint lodged by Prabhakaran, the Ariyamangalam police arrested John Kennedy (28) of Keezha Ambikapuram and registered a case, the police said.

Woman's body foundThe body of a woman, aged around 40 years, was found in a decomposed state at Ayyan Vaikkal in Anbil near Lalgudi in the district on Wednesday. The identity of the victim is yet to be established. Based on a complaint from the Village Administrative Officer of Mangammalpuram, the Lalgudi police have registered a case, the police said.

Two held for stealing motorbikeTwo persons were arrested on the charge of stealing a motorcycle at Rasampalayam near Mannachanallur in the district on Wednesday. Thirumurthy and Muneeswaran allegedly stole a

two-wheeler parked in front of the house of Satheesh Kumar. On a complaint, the Mannachanallur police have registered a case, the police said.

Cases of wall writingThe Jeeyapuram police have registered a case based on a complaint from Narayanasamy, Village Administrative Officer of East Perugumani, stating that an unknown person drew the symbol of a political party, in support of the party candidate contesting the election, on the wall of a temple at Perugamani a few days ago. The complaint was lodged on Wednesday. A case has been registered under the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1959.

In a similar incident, the Vathalai police have registered a case after the VAO of West Kariamanickam lodged a complaint stating that an unknown person drew the symbol of a political party on the compound wall of the house belonging to Navaneetham in support of a party candidate, the police said.
