Water levelMADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam stood at 120.3 feet with an inflow of 220 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 60.20 feet with a discharge of 41 cusecs.
PM's Relief FundA sum of Rs.4.15 lakhs has been released from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund towards surgery expenses for 10 people living below poverty line on recommendations from the Member of Parliament, P. Mohan.
According to a statement, the fund was released for the 2005-06 financial year towards surgery expenses incurred for kidney transplantation and heart ailment.
The sum distributed to the people for heart surgery included, Rs.50,000 each for four, Rs.30,000 apiece for three and Rs.25,000 for a patient. And the sum distributed for kidney ailments included, Rs.50,000 each for two.
Seminar-cum-trainingThe Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, will conduct contact seminar-cum-training programme for students of M.A. (Advertising and Public Relations) in April and May.
Programme for the first year will be held from April 24 to 29 and for the second year from May 1 to 6 on the premises of Tamil Nadu Theological Seminary, Arasaradi. About 200 students from all over the country are expected to participate in the 12-day programme.
