Water levelMADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam stood at 120.90 feet with an inflow of 1668 cusecs and a discharge of 1000 cusecs.
The level in the Vaigai dam was 46.88 feet with an inflow of 534 cusecs and a discharge of 800 cusecs.
The combined Periyar credit stood at 4083 mcft. Tekkadi recorded 3 mm of rainfall followed by Periyar dam 2 mm.
Free notebooks distributedFree notebooks and prizes were distributed to poor students and toppers of standard 10th and 12th examinations from Government schools at a function held on the Canara Bank premises on Friday.
The programme was held as part of the bank's centenary celebrations.
Free notebooks were distributed to about 35,000 poor students studying in Governments schools of Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivaganga and Ramnad Districts through the 24 branches in Madurai Circle, said a press release. R.N. Vivekananthan, Senior Manager, spoke about the special interest shown by the bank towards students and teachers.
