`Ban movement of rice bran to other States'TIRUCHI: The Trichy Federation of Merchants has urged the State Government to ban movement of rice bran to other States from Tamil Nadu.
In a statement issued here, its secretary N.K. Ismail Khan said the price of rice bran had witnessed a sharp rise in the last one month.
Further, there was shortage of the commodity affecting livestock rearers, who were already beset with the problem of rise in the price of fodder.
IGP office shifted to new buildingThe office of the Inspector General of Police, Central Zone, which was functioning at Mannarpuram here was shifted to the building constructed near TVS Toll Gate Junction with effect from August 7.
The new building situated inside the sprawling Armed Reserve complex has been constructed on over 4,000 sq. ft. plinth area by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation.
Constructed at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh, it has ground and first floor and is located close to the Tiruchi-Pudukottai national highway.
Situated a few distance from the new IGP office is the multi-storeyed District Police Office, which is located on the Tiruchi-Pudukottai national highway.
Blood donation campThe Rotaract Club of Seshasayee Institute of Technology, Tiruchi in association with Friends Blood Bank organised a blood donation camp at the Seshasayee Institute of Technology here recently. Over 100 students donated blood during the camp, which was inaugurated by the Institute principal, N. Srinivasan, a press release issued here said.
Decision hailedThe Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has hailed the decision of the State Government to reduce the fee for notifying Tamil names from Rs. 445 to Rs. 50 and urged the Government to withdraw even these charges. In a statement issued here, its district president S. T. Rajendran said the Government should make it free of cost.
Mettur levelThe water level at the Mettur dam stood at 107.35 feet against its full level of 120 feet on Tuesday.
