New TNEB office from today
TIRUCHI: The newly-established Amma Mandapam branch office of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board in Srirangam Division will start functioning at 39/10 A, Rajaji Street, Renga Nagar, Srirangam from May 1.
Power consumers of Raghavendrapuram, Sudharshan Nagar, Puli Mandapam, Subramaniapuram, Rayar Thoppu, Gandhi Road, Renga Nagar, A.M. Road, Mambazha Salai, Ganapathy Nagar, Periyar Nagar and Veereswaram could approach the new office regarding electricity board related works, a press release said. Those coming under the jurisdiction of Amma Mandapam branch have been advised to pay the electricity bill at Srirangam and Tiruvanaikoil branch offices as usual until further orders.
The results of the Government Technical examination conducted in November 2006 for painting, Indian classical music and dance and tailoring have been announced. The successful candidates could obtain the pass certificates from their respective examination centres. Those who had failed have been advised to obtain the failure memo from May 3 to 22. The results would not be despatched to the residence of the candidates, an official release said.
Two women die in accidents
Saroja (45) was fatally knocked down by a motorcycle on the Tiruchi - Thanjavur Main Road at Ariyamangalam on Sunday. Saroja was walking on the road when a two-wheeler rider dashed against her causing injuries on the head. She succumbed to her injuries at the Government Hospital here. The Traffic Investigation (South) Unit have registered a case.
In another incident, Sarasu (55) who sustained head injury after being hit by an unknown two-wheeler succumbed at the Government Hospital here on Sunday. The police said Sarasu was walking on the roadside when a speeding two-wheeler hit her at Thottiyam in the district on Saturday. She was admitted to the Government Hospital where she died. The Thottiyam police have registered a case.
The level in the Mettur dam stood at 75.81 feet against its full level of 120 feet on Monday. The inflow was 1,275 cusecs and the discharge from the dam was 1,000 cusecs. Staff Reporter
