Last date extended
MADURAI: The last date for issue and receipt of completed admission application forms for all the courses offered by Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, for the academic year 2007 has been extended to May 31, according to a varsity press release.
A continuing medical education programme for doctors on `the recent advances and treatment in andrology' was conducted at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre on Sunday.
A live workshop of various techniques was also held at the programme, which discussed the use of different equipment.
T.R. Murali, consultant andrologist, conducted the programme, according to a press release.
The final voters' list of the Madurai West Assembly constituency will be published at a later date.
The Election Commission had instructed the elections officials to publish the final voters' list on April 30. However, due to "administrative" reasons, it could not be published. The date of publishing the list would be announced later, the District Election Officer and Collector, S. S. Jawahar, said in a statement.
The Minister for Social Welfare, Poongothai, reviewed the performance of welfare programmes in Madurai district on Monday.
Along with the Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, A. Tamizharasi, she held discussions with officials on the progress made in schemes such as Moovalur Ramamritham Ammayar memorial marriage assistance scheme, among others.
The Minister told the officials to clear the waitlist of eligible applicants in the welfare schemes at the earliest and asked field workers not only propagate such schemes but also ensure that there were no irregularities. The functioning of the nutritious meal programme was also reviewed.
