MADURAI: Rev. Fr. Peter Fernando, Archbishop of Madurai Diocese, has extended Christmas and New Year greetings to city residents.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday he said, “As we prepare for Christmas celebrations, evils confront us. Terrorism, religious fundamentalism, jealousy, caste animosity and unhealthy competition have increased among people. Tenets such as brotherhood and harmony are waning; relationships among nations and families are turning unpleasant which is affecting humanity.”

Rev. Fernando said that during Christmas and New Year celebrations, the underprivileged, poor, orphans and people living on the margins get the satisfied life brought by Jesus Christ. “Let this Christmas Day uproot evil thoughts and usher in brotherhood, love and harmony among people,” he said.
