Applications are invited from the wards of ex-servicemen for dependent certificate to avail of reserved seats for higher studies in colleges.

The certificates will be issued at the Office of the Assistant Director, District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Board at Old Bangalore Road from Friday (May 10).

Candidates are asked to come with the filled in application for higher studies, photostat copies of the Transfer Certificate (SSLC or Plus Two), Plus-Two mark sheet, community certificate, discharge certificate from defence force, identity card and pension payment order etc.

The dependent certificate obtained last is not valid to use during the current year, hence the wards of ex-servicemen should obtain a fresh dependent certificate every year. One student can avail of the dependency certificate for various courses. Only one in a family is eligible to avail of various facilities through the dependency certificate.

A handbook on scholarship to the wards will also be issued along with the dependent certificate. First three toppers in Plus Two examinations among the wards of ex-servicemen will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5000 each and the state topper among the wards of ex-servicemen would be given Rs. 10,000 as prize, says a release issued by Major (retired) M. Muthuram, Assistant Director, District Ex-Servicemen Welfare Board, here on Wednesday.
