Krishnagiri: The district administration has invited applications from pensioners for providing assistance under the Indira Gandhi National Old-Age Pension Scheme.

According to a release, the Union Government renamed the National Old-Age Pension Scheme as Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension scheme and expanded its scope.

All the senior citizens above 65 years and those living below the poverty line would be covered under the scheme. Officials would visit various villages to receive and process applications on the spot.

The pension amount of Rs. 400 would be disbursed through post offices and nationalised banks in the district before the 10th of every month. Further information can be obtained from village administrative officers and revenue inspectors in villages concerned, the release said.
