From industries, services and business organisations
MADURAI: The district administration has invited applications from industrial, service and business organisations for Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2009-10.
The awards instituted by the State government for organisations that were involved in various social and economic upliftment activities were given to five establishments every year. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh and a certificate each, according to Collector N. Mathivanan.
Companies, partnership firms, sole-proprietorship firms and government/quasi government undertakings as well as associations of industrial, service and business organisations could apply for the award.
The establishments concerned might operate directly or through trusts/NGOs/other agencies. However, exclusive trusts/NGOs and Clubs would not be eligible.
Even though priority was for good works undertaken in the area of rural development, commendable works in urban areas, especially in slums, would also be considered.
Also, activities such as promotion of agriculture; animal husbandry; education; health; sanitation; water supply; water harvesting; non-conventional energy; agricultural marketing; self help groups and livelihood; women, children and youth welfare; and tree plantation would also be considered.
Religious activities not to be considered
Activities undertaken to promote religion would not be considered, the release said.
Activities within Tamil Nadu between April 1, 2004 and March 31, 2009, would be taken into account.
Eligible institutions might apply with supporting documents either to Collector or the Commissioner of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Panagal Building, Saidapet, Chennai - 600 015 on or before December 31, 2009.
