S. Murugaia, Director of Urban Land Ceiling and Urban Land Tax, also Poll Roll Observer for Pudukottai district, conducted surprise verification of applications received for inclusion of names in the voters list during the course of summary revision of electoral roll, on Thursday.
Accompanied by officials, he visited a number of villages in the district and ensured accuracy in the details of applications. In Tirumayam taluk, the official visited villages in and around Namanasamuthiram area and ascertained the data mentioned in the applications.
Similar verification was conducted at Adappan Chathiram in the “9A” Nattam Pannai panchayat; Perumaanadu village near Iluppur taluk; Nilaiyapatti and Vayalogam villages in Pulvayal panchayat; Urugampatti village near Kudumiyanmalai; Karunkuzhikadu village in Melmangalam panchayat. In Aranthangi municipality, he visited Agrahara Street in ward 6 and Pudhu street in ward 4.
C. Manoharan, District Collector, said that the applications for inclusion of names was accepted along with the Photostat copies of ration card, birth certificate or transfer certificate.
Later, Mr. Murugaia held discussion with officials on the procedure adopted for completion of verification.
K. Nagarajan, District Revenue Officer, C. Muthumari and M. Karuppiah both Revenue Divisional Officers, P. Ashok Kumar, Aranthangi Municipal Commissioner were present.
