Applications for private candidates appearing for the SSLC, OSLC, Matriculation and Anglo-Indian stream of examinations to be held in September will be available from August 22 to 26 at the offices of the district education officers or the regional joint director of government examinations, Khaja Nagar, Tiruchi.
In a press release issued here on Monday, K. Lakshmi, Regional joint director of government examinations, said that candidates who had completed 14-and-a-half years of age as on September 1 this year and who had passed standard VIII in recognised schools with English as one of the subjects are eligible to apply.
Candidates who had already appeared and failed in the SSLC or OSLC examinations could also apply.
Candidates who did not pursue the regular stream of education but passed the common examination for standard VIII conducted by this department with English as one of the subjects, and those who had appeared for the examination held in December last year and completing the age of 14 are eligible for the SSLC examination to be held in September.
Candidates who had passed the examinations equivalent for standard VIII approved by the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan; students who got equivalent certificates from residential schools; ‘C' level course in the Open University course; and courses approved by the Union Ministry of Labour are also eligible to appear as private candidates for the SSLC examination.
Candidates who appeared but failed in the Standard X of the Open University course with qualifying age of 14 years as on September 1 this year, can appear for the subjects in which they failed and appear as private candidates for the SSLC examination to be held in September.
