The District Collector K. Baskaran administered the anti-terror and anti-terrorism pledge to government officials and staff of the district as part of the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the Collectorate at Tiruvarur on Friday.
Traditionally, May 21, when the former Prime Minister was assassinated is observed as anti-terror day. As May 21 happens to be a Saturday, the anti-terror and anti-violence pledge was taken on Friday, May 20.
The officials and staff took the pledge to fight against violence and terror. They also took the pledge not to encourage fissiparous tendencies and to fight against such anti-national moves. They pledged to follow the path of non-violence.

At Thanjavur M. S. Shanmugham, District Collector administered the pledge.
