Five hundred women students were screened at an anaemia detection camp organised jointly by the All India Women's Association (AIWA), Gandhinagar branch, Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW)-Tamil Nadu, Vellore district branch and the Inner Wheel Club of Vellore North at Auxilium College in Gandhinagar here recently.

Lavanya, wife of S. Nagarajan, Collector of Vellore inaugurated the camp. Medicines were distributed free of cost to the students who were found to have anaemia. Eugini Fathima Mary, Principal of Auxilium College presided. Thilagavathy Ramaiah, president, AIWA, Gandhinagar branch welcomed the gathering. Prema Dhamodar, executive committee member of ICCW, Vellore district branch spoke.

Seventy-six students donated blood at a blood donation camp conducted by the above three voluntary organisations at the Kingston Engineering College in Christianpet near Katpadi recently. A team from the Blood Bank Department of the Christian Medical College collected blood from the donors.
