: Irate motorists are clamouring for a new road at a busy intersection linking Balavinayagar Temple Street and WGC Road.
The road, which is actually a ‘u’ turn just behind the Cruz Fernandez statue, is a one-way stretch from WGC road.
However, the purpose is defeated as traffic is held up by the uneven cratered surface.
Though the stretch has been widened and parking prohibited, traffic snarls are a frequent feature, complained J Arul, a motorist.
There are no pedestrian crossings along this stretch of road, which is used by heavy vehicles, including public transport. The Corporation should improve the quality of the road, Mr. Arul noted.
When contacted, Corporation Commissioner S. Mathumathi said patch works would be taken up soon.
As for laying a new road, permission had to be sought from the Director of Town Planning, she added.
