In existence for 147 years and known for rendering a variety of services, the heritage branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) here introduced a cash deposit ATM facility for its customers on Friday.
It was launched by Project Director, Hill Area Development Programme (HADP), Srinivas R.Reddy.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Reddy said that growing demands had increased dependence on technology and expressed the hope that it would facilitate saving of time.
Chief Manager, SBI, K.M.Madhaiyan, who presided, said that the branch was the first in the bank’s Coimbatore Region 2 comprising 45 branches in Erode and the Nilgiris to extend such a facility.
Stating that the cash deposit ATM is now functioning within the main building, he said that in course of time it would be moved to a more customer-friendly place and would function round the clock. It would not accept fake or mutilated notes.
A self-service kiosk for updating passbooks and other banking related activities would be opened soon.
