Neyveli Lignite Corporation has been forging ahead in its production, productivity and expansion plans, despite the setback from the recent cyclone, according to A.R.Ansari, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NLC.

He was speaking at Republic Day celebrations held on the NLC campus here on Thursday. Mr. Ansari said the company had set an ambitious target of generating 11,500 MW of electricity by the end of 2020.

He was happy to note that the maiden power venture of the NLC outside Tamil Nadu, set up at Barsingsar in Rajasthan, had started commercial production in both its units – unit II commenced operation on December 29, 2011 and unit I on January 20, 2012, after having overcome the teething problems that persisted close to two years.
