The 24th convocation of the Alagappa University will be held in Karaikudi on Friday. S. Sudalaimuthu, Vice Chancellor, said on Monday that K. Rosaiah, Governor of Tamil Nadu and Chancellor of Alagappa University would preside over the convocation and distribute degrees.

P. Palaniappan, Minister for Higher Education would participate in it and T. Kannan, Managing Director, Thiagarajar Mills (P) Ltd., Madurai would deliver the convocation Address.

As many as 1,100 regular students from the university departments and constituent colleges, 6,897 students from the affiliated colleges, 612 students from the collaborative programmes and 28,557 students from the distance education stream would receive their degrees. In total, 37,166 students would be conferred with the degrees, of which 18,507 graduates were men while 18,659 were women.

Mr. Sudalaimuthu added that 196 students including 104 Ph.D. research scholars and 12 M.Phil. rank holders would receive their degrees in person. Moreover, 29 Gold medallists of the Post Graduate Departments of the University and 39 rank holders from the affiliated colleges and 12 rank holders from the collaborative programmes would also receive their degrees from the Governor.
