AITUC district vice-president V. P. Palanisamy said that steps should be taken to bifurcate the ration shop at S. Periyapalayam village on the outskirts of the city since it already had 887 cardholders attached to it.

“Owing to this, distribution of essential commodities is frequently getting delayed,” he said.

Similarly, grievances of public pertaining to lethargic distribution of essential commodities through the PDS outlets situated at S. Periyapalayam and A Periyapalayam should be looked into, he added.

Mr. Palanisamy said that authorities concerned should expedite the processing of all fresh applications for the family cards.
