Seek action against hoarding, black marketing

ERODE: Members of All India Trade Union Congress staged a protest here in front of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board office to protest against price rise.

Led by district secretary G. Venkatachalam and T. Stalin Gunasekaran they wanted the Centre to act to bring down the prices of essential commodities, which, they said, were beyond the reach of common man.

They also sought a ban on forward trading and action against hoarding and black marketing, which they said fuelled price raise.

The trade unionists’ other demands include stoppage of privatisation of public sector enterprises, support to form trade unions in foreign companies that function from India, etc. About 100 persons participated in the protest.
