CHENNAI: Airtel on Tuesday announced the launch of its DTH services across major towns in Tamil Nadu with technology features such as crystalline pictures, consistent audio, widgets for updates and uninterrupted signals during adverse weather.

In the first phase, it will be rolled out in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Tiruchi, Madurai, Dindigul and Theni before Airtel takes its MPEG4 and DVB S2 technology DTH service to other towns in the next six months.

Airtel is simultaneously launching the service in other southern States and plans to make digital TV available at 6,000 retail outlets, company officials told a press conference here.
