The Purple Day Ceremony, organised every year at the prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington near here to mark its recognition in 1949 as an inter-services institution assumed considerable significance this year.

With Air Chief Marshall Arup Raha, Chief of the Air Staff and an alumni of the DSSC present the ceremony which was held at the college on Friday was more than colourful.

The Air Chief who was accompanied by his wife Lily Raha addressed the officer-students of the institution and later interacted with them. Lt. Gen. S.K. Gadeock, Commandant of the College, in his address thanked the Air Chief for adding lustre to the occasion.
