Meet to discuss options for farmers

The seventh national conference of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) will begin here on July 17. The three-day conference will focus on suggesting alternatives for agricultural labourers from the rural pockets of the country.

Strategies to counter the difficulties in allotting free house site pattas for weaker agricultural labourers will be chalked out at the conference. The government would be urged to streamline the public distribution system and implement the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

On the first day , a special session would be held on the impact of conversion of agricultural lands into industrial estates. On the valedictory day, Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura, will address a gathering on the Uzhavar Sandhai ground.
