After a few days of no communication, seat-sharing talks for the local body elections began between leaders of the Left parties and the AIADMK on Wednesday evening.

“There is a progress in our talks and we are satisfied with it,” CPI(M) whip in the Assembly K. Balakrishnan told reporters outside Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence.

Mr Balakrishnan said his party had submitted a wish list and the delay had been caused because the AIADMK leadership had to hold parleys with many alliance political parties.

The CPI(M) team will again meet the AIADMK leaders on Thursday.

A CPI team was led by former MLA G Palanisamy.
