CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will participate in a rally to be organised by the Federation of Amaravathi Ayacut Farmers' Associations on Thursday from near the Amaravathi dam to Karur, to protest against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's final award.

In a statement here on Wednesday, party general secretary Jayalalithaa said the tribunal's award of three thousand million cubic feet to Kerala from the Pambar, a tributary of the Amaravathi, would adversely affect drinking water supply to Udumalpet, Dharapuram, Chinna Dharapuram, Aravakurichi and Karur covered under the integrated Amaravathi drinking water supply scheme.

Ms. Jayalalithaa directed her partymen to participate in the rally. She also announced her party's support to a general strike called by farmers' organisations in Erode district on a host of issues.
