The AIADMK on Thursday accused the Centre of being discriminatory against Tamil Nadu in sanctioning of Central funds or allocating programmes.

“…that such an approach only shows the kind of step-motherly treatment being meted out by the Centre to other States, particularly Tamil Nadu”, charged AIADMK parliamentary party leader M. Thambidurai in the Lok Sabha.

Participating in the debate on the budget 2013-14 in the lower house, Thambiduraisaid: “Our Chief Minister had approached the Centre for assistance. But the Centre is not responding”.

The Central assistance to Tamil Nadu had come down from 24.42 per cent during the 11th Plan period to 23.08 per cent in the 12th Plan, he said.
