Says they were remanded to custody without any application of mind

CHENNAI: An All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA has moved the Madras High Court seeking immediate release of 72 cadres arrested.

In his habeas corpus petition, V.P. Kalairajan said they were arrested at midnight or in early morning and remanded to judicial custody without any application of mind.

A Division Bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and S. Tamilvanan, before which the matter came up for hearing on Monday, adjourned the matter to Wednesday to enable the Special Public Prosecutor to get instructions from 16 police inspectors, who had been arraigned as respondents.
