The Ariyalur district administration is making efforts to provide brick kilns to 50 women self-help groups (SHGs) in Tirumanur and T.Pazhur blocks to boost their income , said Collector T.Abraham here on Thursday.

Presiding over a special mass contact programme at Ilayaperumal Nallur village , Mr.Abraham said the administration was ready to assist the SHGs for starting 100 brick kilns , adding that a final call would be taken after a meeting with those SHGs.

He said the government had decided to train them in manufacturing bricks.

The Collector handed over Rs.16.93-lakh assistance to 529 beneficiaries under welfare schemes implemented by various departments, including revenue, agriculture, social welfare and Adidravidar welfare..

The enumeration of the 53,000 huts in the district under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme had been completed, he said.

Mr.Abraham pointed out that under the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme for life saving treatment, about Rs.3.18 crore had been spent onsurgeries performed on 1,200 patients in the district. Nirmala, Revenue Divisional Officer and Rajamanickam, panchayat president of Ilayaperumal Nallur were present.
