Benefits worth Rs. 30.72 lakh under various Government schemes were distributed to 349 beneficiaries at a mass contact programme held at Velayuthapuram village in Aruppukottai taluk on Wednesday.

Chief Government Whip, Vaigaichelvan, and Collector T. N. Hariharan, distributed the benefits. Mr. Vaigaichelvan said that out of the 110 petitions that had been received prior to the mass contact from the villagers, action on 83 petitions was taken.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector urged the farmers to apply at the Taluk offices seeking farmers’ identity cards to make themselves eligible to get various assistances under the Chief Minister’s Farmers’ Protection Scheme.
