For not declaring holiday on October 2
ERODE: Labour Inspectorate, Erode, has initiated action against 141 commercial establishments for not declaring holiday on Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2.
A release from Inspector C. Thangavel says as part of the district-wide operations on Thursday, the Department officers conducted surprise checks.
These were carried out at 248 establishments in Erode, Bhavani, Perundurai, Kangayam, Dharapuram, Gobichettipalayam and Sathyamangalam.
During the checks, they found 113 shops, 22 restaurants and six motorcycle repair shops functioning without sending the mandatory 24-hour notice to the Department.
The Department has initiated action against the 141 establishments under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (National Festivals and Holidays) Act and a few others, the release adds.
