Tamil Nadu Sathunavu Oozhiar Sangam has urged the State government to absorb the noon meal staff functioning under the government’s permanent scheme as full-fledged government employees and extend the remuneration prescribed by the pay commission.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the eleventh conference of the Pudukottai union unit of the sangam here on Saturday.
Another resolution demanded pension covering the families of the noon meal staff. The government should appoint the assistants as cook at the noon meal centres doing away with the direct recruitment process as per the direction of the Madras High Court. The conference sought provision of food subsidy and filling of the vacancies in other government departments with the eligible noon meal staff. K. Thangaraj, union president of the sangam, presided. K. Nagarajan, state treasurer of government health transport department staff union, inaugurated the conference. K. Sakthi, state secretary of the sangam, and S. Kamaraj, district president, spoke. The following were elected as the new office bearers of the union unit of the sangam: president: K. Thangaraj; vice presidents: Sakthivel and Solai; secretary: K. Rajamanikkam; joint secretaries: Kaladevi and Rajagopal; and treasurer: V. Devaraja.
