Passengers

can register complaints through the facility

CHENNAI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has launched a new toll-free number – 1800-425-6464 – at the Chennai airport for passengers to give suggestions and register complaints. A senior AAI official said the number was launched by AAI Chairman V.P. Agrawal during his visit to the airport in the last week of November.

He had asked AAI officials to test the facility before declaring it officially to passengers. The officials tested the number for nearly a fortnight. An official in the rank of Deputy General Manager has been authorised by the AAI to monitor suggestions/complaints received through the facility. The official said any complaint/suggestion pertaining to the airport could be recorded.

The message would be viewed by the monitoring official on his computer. Immediately, the complaint/suggestion would be passed on to the agency concerned.

If there was a complaint regarding delay in getting baggage at the arrival hall, the same would be forwarded to the airline concerned. The complainant should record his e-mail address.

The monitoring official would send a reply with details of the airline’s phone numbers and the name of the contact person.

This is the first time a toll-free number has been launched in AAI-owned airports, the official said.
