It was an interesting experience for many school children on Friday. They got to shake hands with their favourite artist Karthi Sivakumar, share the dais, take photographs, quiz him on several topics and listen to him. In return, the kids performed a five-minute ballet, which was described by the actor as ‘brilliant'.
Inaugurating the third edition of ‘KideX 2010', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), he said it was a unique event as it provided an opportunity for children and their parents to pick up an educative and interactive products.
“Such events were not there during my school days. I was an average student, but was good at designing. Children should not be tied to video games alone. They should go out and play. You should pick up at least one sport, one musical instrument or dancing that will shape your future,” he said. Referring to the increasing number of kidnapping incidents, his advice was: “Keep away from strangers. Don't talk to them. Make sure to have your parents or teachers along while you converse with them.” To a child's question on children entering filmdom, he said that it was good as long as it did not interfere with studies. Mr. Karthi said that his hobby was watching wildlife on screen or visiting forests.
