Gem & Jewellery India Expo begins at Chennai Trade Centre

CHENNAI: The third Gem & Jewellery India Exhibition (GJIIE 2007) is on at the Chennai Trade Centre till March 5 (10 a.m to 7 p.m). It is a business-to-business event, not open to the public.

It brings together jewellery manufacturers from all over India. It is organised by the Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants Association.

The exhibition showcases the latest innovations and trends that are coming into vogue both in India and globally. It will give Indian manufacturers an insight into developing a competitive edge that will help them increase revenues and grow at a fast pace. It provides an industry exposure in the form of seminars, displays, fashion show and resource persons.

GJIIE 2007 brings together 150 jewellery manufacturers from Gujarat, Kerala, Mumbai, Jaipur, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Agra under one roof.

The Kerala pavilion has 20 stalls.

The exhibition is being backed by the world's three leading bodies World Gold Council, Diamond Trading Corporation and Platinum Guild International. However the focus will be strongly on gold as this is the theme for this year.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mayor M. Subramanian on Friday.
