Collector distributes iron boxes, assistance
VELLORE: A total of 790 petitions were received from the public in connection with the public grievances camp held at Maniambattu village panchayat in Walajapet taluk on Wednesday. Of these, 790 petitions, 528 were received prior to the conduct of the camp.
C. Rajendran, Collector of Vellore, who presided over the camp, said that out of the 528 petitions received prior to the camp, 92 were accepted. Action has been initiated on the remaining 137 petitions. All 262 petitions received at the camp would be sent to the officials concerned and action taken. He asked the officials to treat the petitions with utmost seriousness.
The Collector distributed free iron boxes costing Rs.2,470 each to six persons through the Department of Backward Classes Welfare, Rs.20,000 each to three inter-caste couples under the Inter-Caste Couples’ Marriage Assistance Scheme through the Department of Social Welfare, deposits of Rs.15,200 each to 15 families under the Girl Child Protection Scheme and maternity assistance of Rs.6000 each to six women under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Maternity and Child Welfare Scheme.

Vijayakumar, Information and Public Relations Officer, Kuppammal Ramadoss, chairperson of Walajapet panchayat union, Kanchana Vasudevan, vice-chairperson of the Walajapet panchayat union, village panchayat presidents Rani Sathyan (Maniyambattu), Baskar (Thengal), Saraswathi Mohan (Vadakal) and Rajkumar, tahsildar (excise) spoke. Kripanandam, tahsildar, Walajapet, welcomed the gathering. Revathi, tahsildar (Social Protection Scheme), proposed a vote of thanks.
