Collector releases final draft electoral rolls

An estimated 7.87 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the four Assembly constituencies in Karur district according to the final draft electoral roll released here on Thursday, with January 1, 2013, as the cut off date.

District Electoral Officer and Collector S.Jayandhi released the rolls and noted that a total of 44,002 people applied for effecting changes, additions and deletions to the draft electoral rolls of which 1,374 applications were rejected due to various reasons and the balance were incorporated.

As per the final draft electoral rolls there are 3,99,760 women voters, 3,87,415 men electors, and 27 voters belonging to the others category in Karur district for a total of 7,87,202 voters.

Aravakurichi Assembly constituency has 1, 88,176 voters, Karur has 2, 14,083 voters, Krishnarayapuram (reserved) constituency has 1,89,643 electors, and Kulithalai Assembly Constituency has 1,95,300 voters, as per the rolls released.

The final rolls has been placed for public viewing at the Karur and Kulithalai RDO offices, and at the taluk offices at Krishnarayapuram and Kadavur taluks since Thursday.
